Hi all -
I've done my best to find help online with this, but I'm quite stuck. Let my try to explain.
I have a phone system that prepends a customer name, or context to the front of every extension number, resulting in authentication usernames that look like this:
In the polycom directory configuration file <mac>-directory.xml, I put this as the <ct> value so that my proxy knows how to route presence notifications to subscribed phones. When using the directory to make a call, on SoundPoint phones this all works great, and the SIP INVITE reads:
However on VVX phones the phone isn't appending the registration proxy IP address to the extension name, resulting in a failed call due to a SIP INVITE that reads:
Also on VVX, the strange thing is that if I instead put in the directory configuration <ct> a value that begins with a number, then the SIP INVITE reads:
The call completes because my softswitch is able to route both calls that simply have an extension number or the full authentication username, but presence doesn't work since my <ct> value doesn't have the full username.
How can I get local directory/buddylist dials to append the registration proxy IP address to the INVITE header when the called number starts with a letter? As mentioned before, everything worked fine on SoundPoint phones.
welcome to the Polycom Community.
A good starting point is always to provide the currently used software as changes may have been made.
I did a quick test using a VVX410 running UCS 4.1.6 with a Contact of ABC123 or ABC-123 and it always dialed the full URL (i.e.abc123@IP address of SIP server).
I suggest you check your configuration and then probably work with your Polycom reseller.

Thanks for the reply!
I definitely should've mentioned what version of software I was running - you might want to look into this on UCS 5.0.1 - I recently started selling VVX so I figured I would grab the latest firmware. Now I read that it's only recommended if you're integrating with Lync. That's OK, I've found a workaround -
I ended up using the "reg.x.useCompleteUriForRetrieve" tag and setting it to zero, and then I added the IP of my proxy to the directory <ct/> tag to force it into the URI. Turning this tag off prevents the software from appending an redundant IP for presence notify to the end of the URI since I have hard-coded it to the directory.
Unless there is a configuration option that I'm missing the can turn on/off whether buddy list *dialing* appends the registrar's IP to the URI, then I think this might be a bug in 5.0.1.
you are correct that this fails in UCS 5.0.1
This release is LYNC or Broadsoft so I suggest in the mean time to downgrade to UCS 4.1.6 where this works.
If you require UCS 5.0.1 please raise a ticket with Polycom support via your Polycom reseller.
