I'm trying to attach this device to a VVX 500 that is running the required 4.1.16 firmware (I had to downgrade from a 5.* version, not sure if that matters).  At any rate, the device powers on, but the provisioning I have put in my contacts/ directory doesn't seem to work at all.

I use the following MAC-directory.xml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
<directory>
  <item_list>
    <item>
      <sd>13</sd>
      <bw>1</bw>
      <ct>Dev_Phone_1_000</ct>
      <lb>Dev Phone 1</lb>
    </item>
    <item>
     <sd>14</sd>
      <bw>1</bw>
      <ct>Dev_Phone_2_000</ct>
      <lb>Dev Phone 2</lb>
    </item>
  </item_list>
</directory>

I also added the following code to the overrides/ directory in a file entitiled MAC-phone.cfg (previous sidecar configuration on older SoundPoint phones used these; not sure if necessary):

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
<phone1>
</phone1>

I even made sure the <sd> values were 13/14 (the first button on the EM is 13).  Now these speed dials do not populate to the EM.  Instead they show up as soft speed dials on the main screen.  I then try to manually configure the EM using the device homepage, hoping that I will be able to dump the provisioning and see how to do it correctly...but the EM Directory menu item is not even available.

How can I get this working?

EDIT: Before posting I already scoured all the other VVX EM related posts and none were helpful in getting this up and running.

Hello Redwolf,

the FAQ post here:

Jan 6, 2012 Question: How can I create a local directory or what is the 000000000000-directory.xml used for?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

mentions that the speed dials populate the free keys on a phone.

This has always been the case and will automatically use the first free key. As there are most likely multiple line free on the main phone they are populated initially and any further keys on the Extension module used after.

Since UCS 4.0.0 a new Parameter was introduced to make the re-arrangement of keys more customizable.

This is explained in the below FAQ post:

Jan 12, 2012 Question: Can I change / re-assign the appearance of  Line, BLF, Speed Dial and Presence Keys?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

I will shortly add more details to this FAQ post to make it even more clear on how to re-arrange the keys.

The configuration option via the Web Interface is for the Paper White Extension module only.

Thanks for pointing me to these resources, but I'm still having trouble.  Firstly, I am not at all sure where to put this <lineKey.reassignment> markup.  In contacts/MAC-directory.xml, in overrides/MAC-phone.cfg?  In <sip><feature>...</feature></sip>?  Also is the previous directory/item-list/item code I posted even valid for populating speed dials to the EM?  Because it is sending these values to the literal Directories area on the phone (i.e. click the VVX 500 homepage "Directories" button, then click into the "Contact Directory" area).

Thanks again.

Above has now been updated with more detail.

If this is still not sufficient please work with your Polycom reseller for further support.
