Good afternoon,
We are currently exploring the option of using the range of Polycom VVX series devices in a Microsoft Lync environment.
As I understand, configuring a large number of these phones for Microsoft Lync is best achieved through the use of a central provisioning server. In addtion, I note that customisation and configuration of said phones can also be achieved through this provisioning service via XML files.
Although my google-fu pulls up many references to the above, I am currently trying to find clear, simple and concise guidance / articles on the below;
1.) A step by step guide to configuring and deploying VVX series phones through a central provisioning server, including the setup of the server itself.
2.) A reference artcle / guide that describes what each of the .cfg files relates to, and more importantly each of the settings within these files. At this time it all appears very 'needle in haystack' to me. Some of these items offer me useful tips when I hover over them (such as the device base profile in the device.cfg), but finding these options in the first place is not easy for me.
I would ultiamtely like to be abel to use this service to deploy phones into a Lync environment that are customised to our own needs without the pain of manual provisioning.
Any guidance or references to quality articles and guides would be much appreciated, as much of what I am reading is conuter intuitive and contradicts the last thing I read.
Thanks in advance,
Ben
