I'm experiencing 2 very annoying issues with the VVX400.

#1 Call waiting doesn't work. If I'm on a call, anyone that calls my extension goes right to voicemail.

#2 I have a VVX400 with a VVX Color expansion module. Whenever a BLF line receives a call, I get an annoying beep if I'm on a call as well.

Ironically, the phone is annoying me with call notifications for other phones, but doesn't notify me when my line receives a 2nd call if I'm on the phone.

I tried versions:

5.5.0.20556,  5.4.4.3041,  5.4.3.1014, 5.4.2.2834

same behaviour on all.

Hi, i found a sollution and this was my answer:

Hi Steffen, thanks for the help!

I downloaded the config from the provisioning server and the VVX (Backup).

The sollution was near the attendant behavior fields in the config:

call.callWaiting.enable="1"
call.callWaiting.ring="beep"

Changed it to

call.callWaiting.enable="0"
call.callWaiting.ring="beep"

and the problem was solved. No annoying beep anymore and the BLF is working fine.

(the config on the provisioning server was not updated with this rules, so the phone uses default 1)

Hello Arjan,

thanks for the update but I still would have liked to see this escalated via a support ticket as the BLF should not cause a call waiting tone.

We already have an internal ticket VOIP-118731 for the BroadWorks platform on this but without looking at an individual case and configuration / call platform it may be related or not.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you. In case this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post your phone's MAC address so I can look up who would be able to support you.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Wouldn't seting call.callWaiting.enable="0" disable Call waiting? That really isn't a desirable outcome.

HP Recommended

Wait, you mean take a backup of the phone, modify that backup file, then restore it and leave the provisioning config intact so that the call waiting gets enabled by the provisioning server?

 If so that didn't work.

HP Recommended

Allmost correct. Backup, edit config, restore

Its important to disable your config on the provisioning server!

(Your phone will reboot after the restore and overwrite the config restored from the provisoning server)

Do you use Broadsoft?

HP Recommended

I'm not using broadsoft, I'm using a tftp server and manually provisioning the files.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand. You want me to temporarily disable the provisioning server config, restore and reboot, then bring the provisioning server back online?

This is my complete provisioning server config. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Turned out it wasn't an issue with the phone. The extension config on asterisk somehow got currupted and did not allow call waiting on any phone for that extension. Deleting the extension and re-adding it fixed it.

BLF beeping for incoming calls on monitored extensions while on a call still an issue.
