Hi all,

My company uses VVX 400s (firmware 5.4.6) and a hosted VOIP solution from 2600Hz. We've been trying for a few days to get the phones to upload a contacts directory, and nothing seems to work. We've read the below pasted thread, and followed it's instructions, but nothing.

https://community.polycom.com/t5/VoIP-SIP-Phones/FAQ-How-can-I-create-a-local-directory-or-what-is-t...

I've attached a picture of what our interface looks like, and we have added a link to our XML file in an FTP server in the custom contact directory URL field. We've factory reset the phone, and still nothing. We always add a custom config file URL, and that does indeed work.

IDK what we could be doing wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @SLATech ,

Welcome back to the Poly Community.

    CONTACTS_DIRECTORY="http://cfg.phones.com/phones/000000000000-directory.xml"

The above is incorrect. We would not expect a file name being specified. This only determines the directory structure.

Same for:

    CALL_LISTS_DIRECTORY="http://cfg.phones.com/phones/000000000000-directory.xml"
    USER_PROFILES_DIRECTORY="http://cfg.phones.com/phones/000000000000-directory.xml"

Please point this to the location of the file only and the phone will automatically try and download its own <mac>-directory.xml and if this fails to try the 000000000000-directory.xml instead.

If this still fails the next steps have been outlined already.

Hello @SLATech ,

Welcome to the Poly Community.

You are using ancient software but I assume this is controlled by 2600Hz. I suggest you work with them on this as we are unaware of how their platform operates.

I have spoken with 2600hz tech support, and they've told me that the interface is just a passthrough to the phone, and that they provide no support for those features. I can upgrade the phones up to 6.0.0, IDK if that will make a difference.

Is there a way to have the phone upload a directory through a configuration file?

HP Recommended

Hello @SLATech ,

I suggest you check here for questions around what the phone loads and why:

Mar 08, 2013 QuestionWhat files does my phone download or upload and why?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

and

Oct 7, 2011 Question: What is the relevance of the 000000000000.cfg or <mac>.cfg?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

In short, you cannot load a Directory via a config file. It is always loaded via the master configuration file aka <mac>.cfg

Only the VVXxx1 models can run any UC Software 6.0.0 or later.

I suggest you work with 2600hz and if this fails open a support ticket.

In order to raise a support ticket, you need to work with your Poly reseller as they may need to do this for you.

End Customers are usually unable to open a ticket directly with Poly support.

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter providing your MAC address or your Poly devices serial will enable us to look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Poly device from.

If the unit is no longer within the warranty please be prepared to Pay Per Incident / PPI. This is all outlined in detail here

Everything seems correct as far as I can tell. I added the URL to every directory just in case. Then I factory reset the phone, provision it, and the directory is blank.

Well, after changing the URL it worked. Thank you.

I went from this,

http://cfg.phones.com/phones/000000000000-directory.xml

To this,
