Visual Voice mail and VVX 500

I have some VVX 500 phones at home. They have a Messages touch-screen button. I am using the latest version of Asterisk with FreePBX UI. When voicemail comes in I see the MWI light blink on the phone connected to vmail. I can press the Messages button and see the calls that are in voicemail. I would like to be able to select each one of those vmails and listen to the message without having to go through the usual voicemail prompts. Is this even possible?

Welcome to the Polycom community.

Many of our sip platform interoperability partners utilise the phones browser functionality to offer such feature.

You would need to inquire within the Asterisk community on how to implement this.

I have asked at the asterisk community and nobody seems to want to answer the question. That is why I came direct to Polycom.

If I have to write a browser extension that means that I would have to add a messages button on that page. Why is a messages button already implemented and how is it to be used?

I am nowhere near a computer at present but I suggest you check the community development section and download the sdk. The community faq should also be consulted.
