Hi,

I have a polycom soundpoint IP 335.  I'm not able to save the volume for the handset. It reverts back to the default. I have other similar model and they are able to retain the volume setting ok.

Is there a way to somehow get this one phone working properly?  How or where do I unlock the default volume for the handset?

Regards,

Hello Tyfighter,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition what are the details of the other device?

Hi SteffenBaier.

SIP version is 3.3.5.0247.

BootRom is 4.2.3.0003

I have compared the settings and versions from the other phone and they are identical.

Hello Tyfighter,

SIP Software 3.3.5 is no longer a supported software and you really should upgrade your phone to UC Software 4.0.10 as this includes important security updates etc.

Looking at your configuration you should check the

voice.volume.persist.handset

Parameter.

Thanks Steffen.

How does one check the configuration for this phone.  I logged in from the web for the phone but I don't see that parameter.

Hello Tyfighter,

this old Software Version does not offer the possibility to backup the currently running configuration. Also less parameters are exposed via the Web Interface.

Newer Versions since UC Software can backup configuration or import configuration files.

You would have to check on your provisioning server.

Everything else is documented in the FAQ or the Admin Guide.
