We use Lync 2010 EV and polycom vvx500. Internal it works fine. But when we call from one polycom to another and then try to transfer call to PSTN then we recieve "request failed" on polycom screen. And there are no any error in the sip logs.

Hello ojcusa,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

  • What Software Version are you running on your VVX500?

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Thank you for your reply. I use 4.0.3.7562. As far as I know software version has to be 4.0.1 or later, so software version is correct.

Hello ojcusa,

the original 4.0.x release was only LYNC compatible and had limitations with ICE/STUN/EDGE etc.

The fully supported Version on the VVX is 4.1.x

Please be aware of the following when utilizing UCS 4.1.0 or later:

The use of Polycom UC Software versions 4.1.X (“Software”) requires the purchase of a separate Software license for every device that will use the Software in a Lync environment. You may not install, access, or use the Software in a Lync environment on more devices than are listed on your license until additional licenses have been purchased and authorized by Polycom. These licenses should be purchased from the same company from which you purchased the devices. You may operate devices against a Lync server for trial purposes for up to 30 days without purchasing a license. Use of the Software is subject to the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement.

Polycom reserves the right to audit your deployment to verify that you have sufficient licenses to match the number of devices being used.

I would suggest you test UCS 4.1.3 and purchase the required license after the 30 day testing period.

Best Regards

I use Lync only without any others (ICE/STUN/EDGE etc).

Moreover this transfer works fine somw time ago.

Moreover, I don't clearly understand why I have to purchase any additional license just for uprgade software.

Hello ojcusa,

as explained only the 4.1.x Software is fully LYNC certified and we (Polycom) pay this, to my knowledge,  as a license fee to our partner Microsoft.

If you are having issues with your VVX and you want to keep running the 4.0.x Version that is only LYNC compatible then you will need to work with your Polycom reseller.

They will be able to raise a ticket for you with Polycom support.

Alternatively please follow up the advise in my signature.

Best Regards

Well, I've upgraded software to 4.1.3 which has to be fully Lync supportable. Import my config and I just can't log in to device. Do I have to new config with new parametrs? Where could I find teplate for new config? lync.cfg (from software package) doesn't have any parameters for certificate, for example.

Hello ojcusa,

I suggest you start with the UCS 4.1.0 Admin Guide page 261.

UCS 4.1.x does no longer require a configuration and you can simply use the base profile.

The LYNC server will provision the VVX500 with the certificate and dialplan.

My colleague Jeff Schertz has an excellent blog or as mentioned above work with your Polycom reseller.

Best Regards

Hello Steffen,

Thank you for you reply.

One more question about license: is it Polycom license or MS Lync CAL license?

We already have MS Lync CAL (Std+Ent+Plus) license per user. Is it enought?

HP Recommended
