Hello Polycom,

We have a situation that we encounter on some PoE switches, where from a cold start, they will supply power to the phones (IP331, etc. running UC 4.0.1) quite some time before the switch is actually ready to pass traffic. The result is that the phone tries to retreive its files from the provisioning server and "gives up" before the switch is ready. So it's probably a good example of bad switch design, but we don't always get to choose the switch for the customer.

In any case, there are two settings (File Transmit Tries and Retry Wait) that can be set through the phone menus that we have used to get around this issue (giving the phone more tries and with long waits between tries). But I have not been able to find anywhere in the XML config files to set these values. Are they settable in the config files, maybe by different names (although none that I could find)?

Or, as an alternative, do you have any other suggestions on how to get the phone to wait longer or retry harder to get its config files after a power-up?

Thanks in advance!

Hello 24x8,

in order to set settings available in the BootROM menu for example you need to use the device.set parameters.

This is described in the Admin guide and also I highlighted three separate posts => here <=,  => here <= and  => here <=

For further details please liaise with your Polycom reseller or raise a support ticket.

Best Regards
