Re: [FAQ] What Phone Models support the LYNC 2010 or LYNC 2013 Features added in UCS 4.0.1?

  • Since UCS 4.1.0 the compatible VVX range of Phones can use the Microsoft LYNC Pin & Extension sign in functionality for an easier Login process.

  • Since UCS 4.1.1 the SoundPoint IP 450, 550, 560, 650, SoundStation IP 5000 and SoundStation Duo can use the Microsoft LYNC Pin & Extension sign in functionality for an easier Login process.

The pre-requisite for the above is to configuring DHCP Options to Enable Sign-in for IP Phones.

DHCP Option 43 for the vendor class and Option 120 for the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for the certification authority (CA) pool Registrar need to be setup.

In addition the Option 42 for a time server are required in order to verify the certificate.

For more information on setting up DHCP, see Setting Up DHCP for Devices on the Microsoft TechNet site.

NOTE: The above is a standard for LYNC and you need to work with your Microsoft support team in order to set this up in your network!

You can still utilize a username login functionality on all phones supporting LYNC.

UCS 5.0.0 added additional BToE functionality.

In order for a phone to be able to use any of the above the base profile needs to be changed to LYNC from the phone idle screen using the multi-key combo (MKC) shortcut.

To set the Base Profile to Lync using the multi-key combo shortcut:

  1. Press the phone’s Home/Menu key.

  2. From the idle screen, press and hold the following key combination on the phone keypad for about 3 seconds. These multi-key combo (MKC) keys vary by phone.

  3. Polycom SoundPoint IP 550, 560, and 650 desktop phones: 5, 7, 8, *

  4. VVX 300, 310, 400, and 410 business media phones: 1, 4, 9

  5. VVX 500 and 600 business media phones: 1, 4, 9

  6. VVX 1500 business media phones: 1, 4, 9

  7. SoundPoint IP 321, 331, 335, 450 desktop phones; SoundStation 5000, SoundStation Duo conference phones: 1, 2, 4, 5

  8. Pressing and holding the MKC keys causes the Base Profile Password menu to display.

  9. In the Base Profile Password screen, enter the password (default 456) and press Enter.

  10. In the Base Profile menu, select Lync.

    LyncBaseProfile_02.PNG

The phone will reboot after this.

Once the phone returns from the reboot the following screen is presented:

LyncBaseProfile_03.PNG

The above simply allows to add the LYNC Extension and PIN that has been pre-programmed on your LYNC server.

If the Extension & PIN method is not the desired method then pressing the Home/Menu key will return to the Idle screen:

Pressing the Sign In Key (May need to press the More key before) will present you with these Options:

LyncBaseProfile_05.PNG

Selecting the User Credentials instead:

The credentials are expected as follows:

username@domain.net

domain

username

Signing into LYNC / Skype for Business via the Web Interface

(if enabled as explained => here <= )

Re: [FAQ] What Phone Models support the LYNC 2010 or LYNC 2013 Features added in UCS 4.0.1?

Adding LYNC Favorites to the Phone or Add On Module:

Note: Please check => here <= what current Software Version supports the Add on Module for the VVX Range!

Any Contact from a LYNC client can be added to the LYNC Favorites.

Simply searching for a Name on the LYNC Client and then right clicking on this offers the option to “Add to Favorites

LYNCFavorites_02.PNG

Once this was added it will appear automatically on the Phone.

The sequence of order is determined by the LYNC Client.
