Provisioning order of precedence

With the various means of provisioning VVX and Trio endpoints, can you highlight the order of priority in which the endpoints give to the mulitiple methods?  Also, is their a way to determine what method was used to set the various configuration variables that are not at default? (IE:  if I want to see what MS is setting via SIP in-band provisioning)

 

From previous post I believe the order to be:

1) Phone local

2) Web

3) Provisioning server

4) SIP in-band provisioning (from Microsoft)

 

When viewing locally on a phone settings -> staus -> platform -> configuration.   MR is also listed,  I am not certain what this is referring too and the order it would fall in priority.

Hello @rnac9i,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

To answer your actual question your understanding is nearly correct appart from the Microsoft part as Microsoft overules most.

 

Microsoft itself does not send to many parameters inband and some of it can be prevented as exaplained => here <=

 

This involves Software and and FTP provisioning etc.

 

The quickest way to check this is simply by looking at a backup.

 

Utilities > Phone Backup & Restore > Phone Backup > Phone Backup

 

  • <CONFER_FILES
    Anything provisioned from a Server

  • <PHONE_LOCAL
    Anything done manually on a phone including the certificate via LDAP if used with a Skype for Business setup

  • <CALL_SERVER
    Inbound provisioning from Skype for Business

  • <WEB
    Changes made via the web interface including the import of configuration files
